First Visits
What To Expect At Your Child’s First Visit
At 303 Pediatric Dentistry, we want to make parent's lives easier. You can fill out forms online, receive text/email appointment reminders, and know that your child is comfortable with all the kid-friendly amenities our office provides. Wondering what to expect when you bring your child in for their first appointment? Let's get into the details.
The Appointment Process
Cleaning
After checking in, you and your child will be brought back to one of our comfy treatment rooms. Once your child is seated, one of our dental assistants will perform a thorough, gentle cleaning, and polish and floss their teeth. We will also take any necessary x-rays to gain a comprehensive understanding of your child's oral health.
Exam & Fluoride
Dr. Robin will then introduce herself to your child and get to know them before beginning their oral exam. Dr. Robin will take a close look at their teeth and gums to get a better idea of their oral health and development. She will also apply fluoride to help prevent cavities.
Treatment Plan & Prize Time!
If your child's teeth are healthy, you’ll just need to schedule their next six-month checkup. But if Dr. Robin notices any issues with their smile, she’ll discuss them with you and come up with a personalized treatment plan.
Once the appointment is complete, your child can pick out a prize from our prize drawers before leaving with a clean and sparkling smile!

How To Prepare Your Child For Their Dental Visit

Make Brushing Fun
Brushing as a family lets you demonstrate proper technique for your little ones. You can also make sure that they're actually brushing properly and for at least two minutes.
Play Pretend
Put your kid in control! You can take the role of the “patient,” lie down, and let your child give you a “dental exam.” You can even buy a dental playset to make things more realistic!
Education First
There are tons of kid-friendly videos on YouTube about dentistry. Not looking to add any more screen time to your child’s life? We get it. You can also check out some children’s books about dentistry from the library!
